Kendall Whitman and Hannah Cohen earn pair of honors
WASHINGTON - First-year Kendall Whitman and senior Hannah Cohen have earned All-East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) honors, the league announced on Monday.
The All-EAGL First Team recipients rank in the top eight in the league on a particular event from the 10-week regular season. Second-team honors consist of the No. 9 to No. 16 ranked gymnasts from the regular season.
Whitman earned second-team honors on vault with her 9.825 qualifying score.
Whitman was named EAGL Rookie of the Week twice in the regular season. The Pottstown, Pa., native performed her eponymous vault "The Whitman" throughout the course of the season, posting scores above the 9.750 mark each time. Whitman earned a career-high 9.875 on the event in her Buff and Blue debut.
The last time a GW first-year earned Alll-EAGL honors on vault dates back to 2015 when Cami Drouin-Allaire and Jillian Winstanley earned first-team recognition. In the same year, Drouin-Allaire went on to become the league's vault champion and even picked up All-America honors on the event from the National Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Association, the first gymnast in program history to earn All-America honors on any event. Winstanley earned EAGL Rookie of the Year that season.
Cohen received second-team honors on beam with her 9.825 qualifying score. The selection marks the third-consecutive time Cohen has earned all-league recognition after earning first-team on the event in 2019 and 2020.
Cohen led GW on the event in all four of its regular season meets, earning scores above the 9.750 mark each time with a season-high 9.875 on Senior Day.
GW is preparing to compete at EAGL Championships on Saturday at 1 p.m. The meet will be available to watch on ESPN3.
