Cross Country Returns to Richmond Saturday

Colonials compete in Spider-Patriot Cross Country Classic
WASHINGTON - GW cross country returns to Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va., on Saturday afternoon to compete in the Spider-Patriot Cross Country Classic. The women's 5k will kick off the festivities at noon, followed by the men's 8k at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: GW returns to the same site as its season-opening race two weeks ago, where the women placed fifth and the men ran as individuals. Senior Kathryn Nohilly paced the women's team with a PR of 18:05.6 and a fifth-place finish. Senior Olivia Horgan also PR'd in 18:36.4.
REGIONAL RANKINGS: The women's team's performance at Richmond moved it up a spot to eighth in the Mid-Atlantic region rankings this week. Last season, the women achieved the highest ranking in program history by reaching as high as seventh.
NEW TO THE SCENE: GW saw four members compete in their first race two weeks ago. First-years Claire McDonnell, Catherine Ruffino and Kirsten Long all made their event debuts at the Richmond Invite, finishing 26th, 31st, and 35th, respectively. On the men's side, sophomore Lucas Brown competed in the 8k distance for the first time and finished 17th.
