Gymnastics Ready for First Quad-Meet of the Season

Trio of opponents includes NC State, Oklahoma and William & Mary
WASHINGTON- The GW gymnastics team will travel to Raleigh, N.C., tomorrow for its first quad-meet of the season with NC State, Oklahoma and William & Mary. March-outs are slated for 6 p.m. inside Valvano Arena.
LAST TIME OUT
GW traveled to Towson on Feb. 12 for a long-awaited season opener. The team posted a 192.950, led by first-year Kendall Whitman who was later tabbed EAGL Rookie of the Week.
Whitman led GW on floor, earning a 9.950 to equal the program record.
The Buff and Blue claimed the top three spots on vault overall. Deja Chambliss and Whitman topped the podium with identical 9.875s, while Anna Warhol followed close behind with a 9.825.
A LOOK AT THE WOLFPACK
The Wolfpack have had a gymnast earn an EAGL weekly honor in five of the six weeks of competition so far. Sophomore Emily Shepard has been named EAGL Gymnast of the Week twice. In the Wolfpack's most recent meet, Shepard earned two podium finishes: one for her 9.900 bars routine and another for her 9.850 on vault. Chloe Negrete also earned a podium finish at the meet with a 9.850 on bars.
A LOOK AT THE SOONERS
No. 4 Oklahoma is coming off a season-high 198.225, led by senior Anastasia Webb. Webb earned a 39.725 to win the all-around competition, behind a 10.000 on vault, 9.975 on beam and 9.950 on floor.
The Sooners swept the Big 12 weekly awards this week after standout performances by Audrey Davis, Jordan Draper and Webb.
A LOOK AT THE TRIBE
William & Mary will compete for the first time this season. W&M returns Katie Waldman, a top performer in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). In 2020, Waldman earned first-team All-ECAC honors on vault, bars and in all-around and second-team recognition on floor.
