Whitman favored over six other EAGL nominees
WASHINGTON- First-year Kendall Whitman has been named EAGL Rookie of the Week, the conference announced today, following her dominant debut at Towson on Friday.
Whitman posted scores above the 9.800 mark in all three of the events in which she competed. She led GW on floor, posting a 9.950 to equal the program record.
Whitman's stellar performance on floor featured a front-double-tuck and a front-double-full into a front-layout earning her first place on the podium.
The Pottstown, PA native performed her namesake vault: "The Whitman," a front handspring on the board to a front handspring tuck half. Her 9.875 tied her for first overall alongside teammate Deja Chambliss.
Whitman also earned a 9.800 on beam, the third highest score for GW and fifth overall.
Head coach Margie Foster-Cunningham called it a "dazzling debut for a rookie."
Before joining the Buff and Blue, Whitman competed for Silvias Gymnastics and was a four-time National Qualifier.
