First-year named to A-10 All-Rookie team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced All-Academic and All-Rookie awards on Wednesday morning, with GW women's cross country first-year Olivia Syftestad taking home All-Rookie team honors.

Syftestad, who was a key cog in the women's team capturing their first-ever team championship in 2021, had a dominant first individual season in the Buff & Blue. Syftestad competed in all six of the Colonials events during the fall, including a 15th place finish at the A-10 Regionals, which earned her All-Conference honors as a first-year runner.

Syftestad also took home A-10 Rookie of the Week honors twice during the 2021 cross country season, first after earning a third place finish at the Mount St. Mary's Duals, and again after finishing ninth in the JMU invitational.
