Osina, Ringenbach Claim A-10 Weekly Awards

Pair honored for strong start to new season
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW men's swimming and diving swept the first round of Atlantic 10 weekly awards on Tuesday with Marek Osina honored as Performer of the Week and Bode Ringenbach named Rookie Performer of the Week.
The pair were honored for a strong start to the 2021-22 season during the opening award period covering the Buff and Blue's meets vs. Virginia Tech and Old Dominion.
A key contributor in GW's push to the 2021 A-10 title, Osina has been sensational so far this season, posting conference-best times in seven different events. The senior from Kromeriz, Czech Republic, posted four individual wins and a relay victory last weekend to help GW cruise past ODU in a two-day meet in Norfolk, Va. He also turned in three strong individual swims during the Buff and Blue's opening test vs. the nationally-ranked Hokies on Oct. 2 at Smith Center Pool.
Osina's top performance thus far came in the 400 IM vs. ODU, when he posted a time of 4:00.43 that ranks 18th among Division I swimmers this year. He's also ranked among the top 50 nationally right now in the 200 back (1:48.98) and 200 IM (1:51.46) and the top 100 in the 100 breast (:57.54), 200 breast (:57.54), 200 free (1:41.64) and 200 fly (1:52.43).
It's the first A-10 weekly award for Osina, who won six medals, including five golds, at last spring's conference meet.
Ringenbach has showcased his versatility across his first two collegiate meets, shining in a variety of events and strokes. The first-year from Raleigh, N.C., ranks in the top four in the A-10 in six different races.
Last weekend, Ringenbach picked up a win in the 200 breast (2:07.95) vs. Old Dominion and also landed runner-up in the 400 IM (4:04.02) and 1,000 free (9:45.86) and third in the 200 fly (1:55.52). His 400 IM time ranks 29th across the Division I ranks so far, and he's currently among the top 100 in the 1,000 free and 200 breast.
In his collegiate debut, Ringenbach swam the 100 breast (:58.82), 200 breast (2:08.41) and 200 IM (1:56.00) vs. Virginia Tech.
After its busy start to the season, GW will take a break from competition until a Nov. 6 dual meet at Pittsburgh.
