Buff & Blue visit Demon Deacons on Tuesday
GW men's soccer wraps its non-conference slate with a major test on Tuesday, taking on Wake Forest in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Spry Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.
LAST TIME OUT: GW dueled UMass to a scoreless deadlock on Saturday to earn a point in the Atlantic 10 standings.
Justin Grady made five saves over the 110 minutes to shutout the Minutemen.
PERFECT 10: Grady now has 10 career shutouts after picking up his second clean sheet of the season and first since the season-opening win over VMI on Aug. 26.
The junior goalkeeper recorded three shutouts as a first-year in 2019 and five during his All-Region spring campaign, in addition to his pair this fall. He has played every minute in net for the Buff and Blue this season, setting career highs in starts (13) and saves (45) while registering a 1.28 goals against average.
BATTLE-TESTED: Joshua Yurasits made his 64th career start on Saturday at UMass and has now logged 5,674 minutes as a member of the Buff and Blue.
The defender from North Wales, Pa., is the lone field player to start all 13 games in his fifth season in the program. With 1,122 minutes played, he's surpassed the 1,000-minutes mark for the fourth time in his career.
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS: Seeking an 11th consecutive NCAA trip, Wake Forest earned its second straight win on Friday, edging North Carolina, 2-1, to improve to 6-4-1 on the season and 2-2-1 in ACC play.
Kyle Holcomb scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season in the Demon Deacons' most-recent win. In net, Trace Alphin and Cole McNally have combined for a 1.04 goals against average.
Both prior meetings in this series ended in ties. Back in 2016, the Buff and Blue visited the 12th-ranked Demon Deacons and played them to a scoreless stalemate, thanks to a seven-save effort from Thor Arne Höfs.
UP NEXT: GW has a break in action until it welcomes Revolutionary Rival George Mason to the Mount Vernon Campus for a 1 p.m. start on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
