Beyond the Bio: Chelsea Raineri
1/15/2021 9:00:00 AM | Gymnastics, My GW: Celebrating our Stories
Welcome back to Beyond the Bio, where we'll get to know more about the people behind the scenes at GW Athletics.
This edition highlights gymnastics assistant coach Chelsea Raineri, who is in her third season assisting head coach Margie Foster-Cunningham following a decorated career in Buff and Blue. The Telford, Pa., native was part of two EAGL title-winning squads, including as a senior in 2017 when she became the program's first-ever NCAA Regional champion and advanced to the national meet to compete on vault.
When I'm not working, my favorite thing to do is?
CrossFit and outdoor activities like hiking, exploring new places and taking virtual dance classes!
If I was an animal, I would be?
I would be a bald eagle!
If I could only eat one meal for every meal for the rest of my life, it would be?
This is hard, but I would have to go with French toast. Breakfast foods are my favorite.
My favorite place I've ever been is?
For me, that would be Vienna, Austria. It was filled with beautiful mountains, and it's the only place I have been outside of the U.S.
If I could have coffee with anybody in the world, living or historical, he/she would be?
I would have coffee with Aretha Franklin. She is the musician who inspired me to do musicals and theatre.
The one job in GW Athletics I'd like to do for a day is?
One job in athletics I'd like to do for a day would be strength coach. (Clearly, I cannot get enough of coaching!) Being in the weight room is such a motivating environment and an opportunity to see what you are really made of!
The person I'm most inspired by is?
I am most inspired by my dad. No matter the circumstance he encountered in his life, when he said he would accomplish something, he would do it with flying colors and exceed expectations. I strive every day to prove to myself I can accomplish anything with the right attitude and mindset, just as he taught me.
My favorite book, movie, TV show or podcast is?
Book: The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday
Movie:Â A League of their Own
TV Show:Â Friends
My top #OnlyatGWÂ moment was?
When the Pope came to DC, being down at the parade was incredible!
If I could be granted the gift of elite athleticism, I'd like to be able to?
Compete in the CrossFit Games!
