WASHINGTON - The George Washington gymnastics team landed third in the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) preseason poll, the conference has announced.
GW tallied 46 points with two first-place votes to take the No. 3 spot behind 2020 co-champion NC State (59 points) and Pittsburgh (49) in the poll based on ranking projections from the head coaches of the eight EAGL schools.
Following the abrupt ending to the 2020 season, the Buff & Blue roster features 14 returning student-athletes, seven of whom earned All-EAGL honors last season.
Among the honorees are captains Cydney Crasa, Anna Warhol and Hannah Cohen. Crasa finished her senior campaign earning Second Team All-EAGL honors with her 9.805 NQS on vault and First Team All-EAGL recognition with her 9.850 NQS on floor. Entering her senior season, Warhol is coming off Second Team All-EAGL honors in both bars (9.795 NQS) and floor (9.795 NQS). After her career-high season on beam, Cohen secured her spot on the All-EAGL First Team (9.855 NQS).
Junior Deja Chambliss is entering the 2021 season after a breakout sophomore season in which she earned First Team All-EAGL recognition on vault (9.865 NQS) and Second Team honors on bars (9.790 NQS).
That decorated group helped GW close last season strong with four consecutive scores above the 195.00 mark.
A finalized 2021 schedule will be released as soon as it becomes available.
