WASHINGTON – George Washington gymnastics junior Anna Warhol was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league announced on Tuesday.
Warhol is the second gymnast in program history to earn the conference's top academic award. It also marks the seventh season in a row that a GW gymnast has won a major end-of-season EAGL award, following Alex Zois in 2019 (Gymnast of the Year), Cami Drouin-Allaire in 2018 (Gymnast and Senior of the Year), Jillian Winstanley in 2017 (Scholar-Athlete of the Year), Drouin-Allaire in 2016 (Gymnast of the Year), Winstanley in 2015 (Rookie of the Year) and Chelsea Raineri in 2014 (Rookie of the Year).
Warhol put together a strong 2020 season, finishing her junior campaign with a pair of Second Team All-EAGL honors on bars (9.795 NQS) and floor (9.795 NQS). The Biomedical Engineering major added floor to her repertoire this season, hitting all nine routines and scoring above a 9.725 in each appearance. Warhol also set a pair of career-highs on both events with a 9.875 on bars and 9.825 on floor.
In the classroom, Warhol maintains a cumulative grade-point average of 3.861 as a Biomedical Engineering major and was recently named to the EAGL All-Scholastic Team for the third consecutive season. The Poland, Ohio, native also boasts a calendar year GPA of 4.0 and held a coveted research position at the Cleveland Clinic with the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Sciences department, ranked first of its kind in the nation, over the summer.
