Junior diver placed 13th on platform Wednesday
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - George Washington's Peter Nachtwey wrapped up the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships on Wednesday with his best showing of the week at the Aquatic Center at Mylan Park.
The junior from Ohio finished in 13th place vs. a decorated field with a combined score of 501.75. He scored 248.55 during the six-dive preliminary round before posting 253.20 over his six dives in the final round.
Nachtwey caps an impressive campaign that saw him earn Most Outstanding Diver honors at the Atlantic 10 Championships for the second straight season. He claimed repeat gold on 3-meter and also finished fourth on the 1-meter board at the conference meet before earning his third trip to the NCAA qualifying meet.
This week, Nachtwey placed 31st on 3-meter (257.50) and 37th on 1-meter (242.30) before qualifying for finals on platform for the third time on the final day of competition.
