Colonials host Howard on Thursday; face Maryland on the road on Saturday
SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women's team will look to snap its losing skid this week with a pair of matches against DMV opponents. The Colonials will first host Howard on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC) before making the short trip to College Park, Md., to go head-to-head with the Terps on Saturday at noon.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials fell to Delaware, 5-2, last week. The team notched the early doubles point, but dropped five of six singles matches to fall short to the Blue Hens. First-year Sarah Bodewes secured the squad's lone victory in singles action, downing her opponent at No. 5 in straight sets.
ABOUT HOWARD: The Bison (0-5) travel to Foggy Bottom after falling to Maryland, 7-0, on Saturday. The Colonials came out on top in their last meeting, blanking the Bison, 6-0, in Feb. 2019.
ABOUT MARYLAND: The Terps sit at 8-5 on the season and are coming off a 4-2 setback at William & Mary. GW topped Maryland last season, 6-1.
ROAD AHEAD: Following their pair of matches this week, the Colonials will return home to host two Atlantic 10 opponents. GW will first welcome Rhode Island to Washington, D.C., on Friday, March 27 (1 p.m.) before facing Richmond on Saturday, March 28 (1 p.m.).
