Castagnola takes fourth shooting 7-under

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The GW golf team concluded its first stroke-play event of the spring and finished seventh at the Bash at the Beach on Tuesday with a team score of 2-under 862 (291-293-278).

Senior Adrian Castagnola finished fourth overall and led the Colonials at 7-under 209 for the tournament. He ended the first day (36 holes) at 3-under par 141 before finishing The Bash with his lowest score of the competition at 4-under 68 in the third round.

UNCW won a playoff to beat Jacksonville State in the team event. Both squads finished at 22-under with a team total of 842.

A. Segundo Oliva Pinto of UNCW won the individual title at 11-under par 205 to defeat Devin Morley from Louisville, who shot a 10-under 206.

GW has two weeks off before returning to action at the Golden Horse Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary from March 22-24.
