Women’s Tennis Set for Pair of Matches

Colonials face Delaware Friday, George Mason Saturday
SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women's tennis team is set to return home to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC) on Friday to host Delaware at 1 p.m. The Colonials will then have a quick turnaround, making the short trip to Burke, Va. to go head-to-head with Revolutionary Rival George Mason on Saturday at 6:45 p.m. at the Burke Racquet and Swim Club.
LAST TIME OUT: The Buff and Blue suffered a 5-2 setback at West Virginia on Saturday. The Mountaineers secured the early doubles point to start the day with a 1-0 edge. Alexandra Vesikallio and Sarah Bodewes were able to put the Colonials on the board with victories at No. 3 and 5, respectively, but West Virginia topped GW in the remaining matches to finish the day on top.
ABOUT DELAWARE: The Blue Hens travel to the District boasting an undefeated 4-0 record. Delaware opened its season with a 5-2 victory over Morgan State before sweeping Chestnut Hill (7-0) and La Salle (7-0). The squad most recently topped Quinnipiac (6-1) on Sunday. Delaware's match against GW will mark its first on the road in 2020.
ABOUT GEORGE MASON: The Patriots sit 1-1 in dual match play, falling to Villanova in their season opener (5-2) before bouncing back with a 7-0 sweep over the University of Mary Washington on Saturday. GW topped George Mason, 7-0, last season.
ON THE HORIZON: Following their matches this weekend, the Colonials will host Navy at the SETLC on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. GW will then make the trip to Harrisonburg, Va. to face James Madison on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m.
