BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - GW women's basketball assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Ganiyat Adeduntan has been selected to the Rising Coaches "Next Up" Head Coaches Training Initiative.
The initiative is sponsored by the Rising Coaches Diversity, Equity and Inclusions Alliance and allows the finalists the opportunity to participate in a workshop this month with sports search consultant Katy Young Staudt, who was recently named to The Athletic's "40 under 40" college basketball list. Adeduntan was nominated by the Women of Color Coaches Network.
"I am honored to have been selected for the "Next Up" Training Initiative with a nomination that came from the Women of Color Coaches Network," Adeduntan said. "I humbly pride myself on being a lifelong learner, knowing that my most important job is my current one here at GW. My hope is that this training will not only prepare me for future endeavors, but also allow me to be better equipped to continue helping our women's basketball student-athletes excel both on and off the court. To be given the opportunity to be exposed to information that will help enhance my knowledge in this profession is truly a privilege that I do not take lightly."
Adeduntan is in her fourth season as an assistant coach at GW while also taking the role of recruiting coordinator. This summer, she was named a top-50 Impactful Mid Major Assistant by Silver Waves, and was invited to attend the prestigious TopConnect Virtual Seminar.
The Rising Coaches DEI Alliance is made up of a dozen different minority coaches and social justice organizations. Their mission is to use their platform as leaders in sports to impact change in the profession and their communities. For more information, visit www.risingcoaches.com/DEI-alliance .
