Senior captured first cross country win of her career on Friday
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - GW women's cross country senior Suzanne Dannheim was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Performer of the Week on Tuesday following her win at the Mason Invitational on Friday.
In a field made up primarily of A-10 competition, Dannheim finished first for the first time in her career. Hanging with the top pack for a majority of the 5k course, she broke away down the stretch, finishing in a time of 18:18.0, three seconds faster than her closest competitor.
Coming off an appearance in the NCAA Preliminaries during outdoor season, Dannheim has opened her final cross country campaign with consecutive top-three finishes. The Jacksonville, Fla., native is looking to build off last year's cross country season where she finished eighth at the A-10 meet to earn All-Conference honors and 23rd at the regional meet to earn All-Region accolades.
