Eight Gymnasts Named WCGA Scholastic All-Americans

Colonials honored for academic excellence
WASHINGTON – Eight George Washington gymnasts have been named 2018-19 Scholastic All-Americans by the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA), the organization announced on Monday.
Individuals must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 to earn Scholastic All-America honors.
Amongst GW's eight honorees were five repeat recipients. Recent graduate Alex Zois (Emergency Medicine Management and Public Health) was honored for the third consecutive year while classmate Yurina Harada (Accountancy) picked up her second WCGA Scholastic All-America honor. The rising junior trio of Rachel Kaplan (Psychology), Katya Karpova (Biomedical Engineering), and Anna Warhol (Biomedical Engineering) also received recognition for the second time in their career.
They were joined by first-time honorees Hannah Cohen (Exercise and Nutrition Science), Simone Banen (Mechanical Engineering), and Olivia Zona (Exercise Science).
As a team, the Colonials ranked 48th overall nationally with a team cumulative GPA of 3.3856, up five spots from last year.
All eight student-athletes were also honored on the All-EAGL Scholastic Team in the spring.
