Crasa and Rogalski to lead the squad next season
WASHINGTON – George Washington gymnastics rising seniors Cydney Crasa and Nicole Rogalski have been voted to serve as co-captains for the 2019-20 season, head coach Margie Foster-Cunningham announced.
Both gymnasts have played an integral role in the recent success of the GW Gymnastics program. The duo will lead together as the Colonials look to return to NCAA Regionals for the sixth consecutive year after postseason trips to Auburn, AL (2015), Athens, GA (2016), Morgantown, WV (2017), Raleigh, NC (2018), and Baton Rouge, LA (2019).
The last time that GW made five consecutive NCAA Regionals appearances as a team was between 1991-1995.
Crasa is coming off yet another standout season where she competed on vault and floor at all 15 meets, earning a spot on the All-EAGL Second Team and the EAGL All-Tournament First Team for both events. The rising senior posted a career-high score of 9.850 on vault and matched her career-high 9.875 on floor this season. As one of the most consistent performers on the team, Crasa earned eight scores of 9.800 or above on vault, including five-straight scores above a 9.800 to close out the season, and exceeded a 9.800 nine times on floor, including at each of the last four meets.
Rogalski, a three-time All-EAGL Scholastic Team member, is looking to bounce back after suffering a knee injury at the start of the 2019 season. As a sophomore in 2018, the Andover, Massachusetts, native competed on balance beam and posted a career-high 9.725. With the loss of Alex Zois and Brooke Bray from the Colonials' beam lineup, Rogalski will look to boost GW on beam in 2020.
The pair will lead a roster that features 13 returners and three newcomers.
