Nelson Bests Own School Record at Towson Invitational

Day wins steeplechase in solid day for GW Track & Field
TOWSON, Md. - GW track & field continued its strong outdoor season with an impressive showing at the Towson Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The highlight of the day was from Jared Nelson, who had previously set the school record in the triple jump at the Penn Challenge. Nelson re-established the mark with a distance of 13.09 meters, besting the previous record by .04 meters.
The Colonials also claimed victory in the men's 3000m steeplechase with Carter Day winning in a time of 9:11.05. Elsewhere on the men's side, Isaiah Robyne finished third in a PR of 4:01.76 in the 1500m, leading four Colonials in the top 11. Aiden Kolenik PR'd in the 800m, leading the GW quartet by finishing ninth in a time of 1:57.47.
On the women's side, Olivia Horgan PR'd in the 5000m, finishing second in a time of 4:42.38. Three Colonials were in the top six of the event with Kelli Stetson placing fourth and Mariah Moro finishing sixth. Madison Yerke (second place) and Margaret Coogan (fifth) were top-five finishers in the women's 1500m.
