No. 35 Gymnastics Concludes Season at NCAA Baton Rouge Regional Championship

Colonials post 194.675 to wrap 2019
BATON ROUGE, La. – In its fifth consecutive appearance in an NCAA regional and 15th trip in program history, the No. 35 George Washington gymnastics team finished the day with a 194.675 at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional Championship Second Round at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
The Colonials earned a spot in the second day of competition in Baton Rouge after topping No. 36 Lindenwood (195.200-194.750) on Thursday afternoon. After leading by no more than .075 heading into the final rotation, GW put up a 49.150 on floor to pull ahead by .450 and punch its ticket to the Second Round.
Against a slate of top-ranked opponents, GW posted team scores of 48.625 on vault, 48.750 on bars, 48.725 on beam and 48.525 on floor to place fourth in the four-team field in Session II.
No. 3 LSU (197.200) and No. 14 Auburn (197.075) finished in first and second place, respectively, to advance to the NCAA Baton Rouge Super Regional Championship.
ROTATION ONE
GW got its start on bars, posting a team score of 48.750, a .325 increase from the First Round of Regionals the day prior. Alex Zois and Hannah Cohen led the way, earning matching scores of 9.775. Simone Banen and Anna Warhol followed closely behind with 9.750s, while Julia McLaughlin added a 9.700 to close out the first rotation.
ROTATION TWO
The Colonials took to beam for the second rotation, finishing with a score of 48.725. The duo of Zois and Cohen paced the squad with identical 9.800s. Raymond also had a solid routine, earning a score of 9.750. Brooke Bray recorded a 9.700, and the pair of Olivia Zona and Banen posted matching 9.675s to add to the GW score.
ROTATION THREE
The squad moved to floor for the third rotation, posting a team score of 48.525. Zois led the way for the third straight event with a 9.775, while Cydney Crasa finished just behind her with a 9.750. Banen and Raymond earned matching 9.675s while Katya Karpova and Rachel Kaplan wrapped up the floor lineup with a pair of 9.650s.
ROTATION FOUR
GW closed out the night on vault, earning a 48.625. Crasa continued her momentum on vault, registering a team-high 9.800. Zois also had a solid vault, scoring a 9.775, while fellow co-captain McLaughlin posted a 9.725. Chloe Vitoff added a 9.700, and Warhol posted a 9.625 to cap off the night.
