Bautista Earns Pair of All-Atlantic 10 Postseason Honors

Senior caps career with third team all-conference and all-defensive selections
WASHINGTON - GW women's basketball senior point guard Mei-Lyn Bautista garnered significant praise and adulation during her final year in Foggy Bottom, and on Thursday, she was rewarded by the Atlantic 10 for her efforts by being tabbed Third Team All-Conference and a member of the All-Defensive Team.
The accomplishments mark the second straight year a Colonial has been named to both teams with Brianna Cummings doing so in 2017-18. Bautista was pegged a preseason second team and all-defensive member prior to her senior campaign.
GW's floor general, Bautista started and played in 28 games, averaging 9.3 points, 3.9 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals. She finished the year third in the league in assists per game and fourth in steals per game. The Queens, N.Y., native was also second in the league with a 1.72 assist/turnover ratio.
Averaging 36.0 minutes per game, and rarely coming off the floor near the season's end, Bautista was instrumental in orchestrating a youthful Colonial team on both ends of the floor, blossoming into the unquestioned team leader in her senior season.
An All-Tournament selection in the Colonials' run to the championship in 2018, Bautista finished her career as one just three players in program history to record at least 400 assists and 150 made 3-pointers. Her 404 career assists rank eighth all-time while her 157 made 3s is seventh in program annals.
