Colonials prepare of GW Invite in two weeks
CHERRY HILL, N.J. – The George Washington women's rowing team kicked off its spring 2019 season on Saturday at the 37th Annual Memorial Murphy Cup Regatta hosted by Temple University.
Racing on the Cooper River, the Colonials faced a tough field of 16 competitors, including fellow Atlantic 10 teams Duquesne, Saint Joseph's and La Salle.
Both the Varsity 8 and JV8 placed second in their respective morning heats to advance and clinch spots in the afternoon Grand Finals.
The Varsity 8 finished sixth with a time of 6:57.03, while the JV8 boat clocked in fifth at 7:23.47 ahead of Georgetown (7:36.78).
The 3V8 posted a time of 7:35.31 to finish third in their final.
With a weekend of racing behind them, the Colonials will now turn their attention to the GW Invitational on April 12-13.
