No. 35 Gymnastics Finishes Second at EAGL Championship

Colonials post season-highs on bars and beam; Zois wins all-around title
DURHAM, NH – The No. 35 George Washington gymnastics team posted a 195.825 to finish second at the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship on Saturday afternoon at Whittemore Center Arena.
New Hampshire won the conference title with a score of 195.950, with the Colonials not far behind at 195.825. NC State finished third with 195.275, Pittsburgh took fourth with 194.900, North Carolina finished fifth with 193.950, and Towson rounded out the league at sixth with 193.450.
In the all-around, fifth-year co-captain Alex Zois finished atop the podium for the ninth time this season to claim the title with a dominant 39.400. The Crofton, Md., native earned her 39.400 behind a 9.850 on vault, a 9.825 on bars, a 9.875 on beam, and a 9.850 on floor.
Ten gymnasts also finished the day with EAGL All-Tournament Team honors, including Zois (First Team V, UB, BB, FX, AA), Cydney Crasa (First Team V, FX), Chloe Vitoff (Second Team V), Hannah Cohen (First Team UB, BB), Anna Warhol (First Team UB), Simone Banen (Second Team UB, BB), Olivia Raymond (Second Team UB), Julia McLaughlin (Second Team UB), Olivia Zona (Second Team BB), and Brooke Bray (Second Team BB).
FLOOR
After starting the afternoon on a bye, the Colonials opened EAGL action on floor, posting a team-score of 49.000. The 49.000 marks the squad's third straight meet hitting the 49.000 threshold on floor and the fifth time they've done so this season. Zois and Cydney Crasa led the way, earning matching scores of 9.850 to finish in a tie for second place. Simone Banen and Katya Karpova also had solid floor performances, posting identical 9.775s, while Rachel Kaplan recorded a 9.750 to give GW its 49.000 start.
VAULT
GW then moved to vault, finishing with a 48.775. Crasa started the Colonials off with a career-high matching 9.850. Zois also added a 9.850, while Chloe Vitoff finished with a 9.725. Julia McLaughlin and Anna Warhol added matching 9.675s to round out the third rotation.
BARS
The Colonials moved to bars for the fifth rotation, posting a season-high score of 49.050. Olivia Raymond set the tone with a 9.775 to give GW a strong start on bars, while Banen added a 9.800 as the second gymnast in the lineup. The squad continued to raise the bar, with Zois, Hannah Cohen, and Warhol all scoring 9.825s to give GW its season-high 49.050.
BEAM
GW wrapped up its afternoon of championship competition on beam, posting its second season-high of the day with a 49.000. With the title on the line, Zois put together a solid routine to earn a tied for second place at 9.875. Cohen also had a stellar performance with a 9.850 - her tenth straight score above a 9.800 - while Banen added a 9.775. Olivia Zona and Brooke Bray followed closely behind with matching 9.750s.
REGIONALS BOUND
With their 195.825, the Colonials have locked in a spot at NCAA Regionals, making their fifth straight regionals appearance and 15th trip in program history. GW will find out where they are competing during the selection show on Monday at 5 p.m.
