Gymnastics Earns Final Pair of EAGL Weekly Honors

Zois picks up third Gymnast of the Week recognition, Cohen tabbed as Co-Specialist of the Week
WASHINGTON – The George Washington gymnastics team has claimed two of the final East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) weekly awards. Fifth-year co-captain Alex Zois has been named EAGL Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season, while sophomore Hannah Cohen earns Co-Specialist of the Week honors of the first time in her career.
In GW's 3-1 finish in a five-meet at Towson, Zois finished atop the podium in the all-around for the eighth time this season with a career-high matching 39.425. The Crofton, Md. product posted a career-high 9.925 on vault, the highest vault score given to an EAGL gymnast this season, and added a 9.775 on bars, a season-high matching 9.875 on beam, and a 9.850 on floor. In addition to the all-around title, Zois finished first on vault and tied for second on beam. Her efforts helped the Colonials eclipse the 196.000 mark for the first time this season, posting a 196.025 behind Maryland, but ahead of EAGL opponents UNH, Towson, and Pittsburgh.

Cohen also paced the squad on beam with a career-high matching 9.875 on beam, her ninth straight score above a 9.800 on the event. The Dix Hills, N.Y. native wrapped up the regular season ranked tied for second on beam in EAGL with her 9.855 NQS, earning a spot on the All-EAGL First Team.
GW returns to action on Saturday for EAGL Championships in New Hampshire.
