WASHINGTON - GW women's basketball is proud to take part in the #Play4Kay Free Throw Challenge this February, raising money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
Fans can donate a specified amount to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund for every free throw the Colonials make in the month of February. Immediate flat donations will also be accepted and are not contingent upon the number of free throws made.
GW will highlight its support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in its annual #Play4Kay Pink Game this Sunday, February 10, against Saint Joseph's at the Smith Center. The Colonials will don pink shoes and accessories in an effort to raise awareness for the ongoing campaign.
The Kay Yow Cancer Fund's mission is to extend and improve the lives of those who are battling cancer, on our way to finding a cure, by raising money for research and assisting the underserved. The Play4Kay initiative is Kay Yow Cancer Fund's largest fundraiser and plays a major role in uniting players, coaches and fans to do something for the greater good that far exceeds wins and losses on the court.
Fans are able to track GW's progress and make contributions via its donation website, www.pledgeit.org/gwu-play4kay. The Colonials have hit 16 free throws in two games thus far with five games still remaining.
