GW Women’s Tennis set for pair of matches

Colonials look to extend three match win streak
SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women's tennis team will round out the month of February with matchups against Drexel and William & Mary. The Colonials are set to host the Dragons at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center on Friday at 12 p.m. before traveling to meet the Tribe on Sunday for a 2 p.m. matchup.
LAST TIME OUT: The Buff and Blue posted a crucial 4-3 win over Navy over the weekend. No. 1 and No. 2 doubles pairs Maria Siopacha and Melis Bayraktaroglu and Sara Grubac and Katarina Marinkovikj won their matchups to secure the doubles point. No.1 Maria Siopacha, No. 3 Sara Grubac, and No. 4 Katarina Marinkovikj also notched victories in singles play to cement the Colonials' third straight victory.
A-10 HONORS: First-year Katarina Marinjovikj was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after helping GW to its third straight victory on Saturday. The Skopje, Macedonia native went undefeated in both her singles and doubles matches to help the Colonials edge Navy.
ABOUT DREXEL: The Dragons also hold a three-match win streak, most recently earning victories over Lehigh, Villanova, and NJIT. They currently hold a 5-4 season record, having also defeated UConn and Campbell.
ABOUT WILLIAM AND MARY: The Tribe is coming off of a 4-0 loss to Virginia and will face Penn before taking on the Colonials. William & Mary sits at 2-6 this season, with its victories coming over Richmond and Elon.
SERIES HISTORY: The Colonials are taking on the Tribe for just the second time since 2004, having been edged 4-3 in March of 2018. GW last faced Drexel on February 18, 2011, earning a 5-2 victory.
