
Women's Tennis Topples Towson, 6-1

TOWSON, Md. â€" After dropping the early doubles point, the George Washington women's tennis squad bounced back in dominant fashion, sweeping Towson in singles play to secure the 6-1 victory on Sunday afternoon.
The Colonials won their first match in doubles action, with the top pair of Maria Siopacha and Melis Bayraktaroglu defeating their opponents, 7-5. Marie-Louise Decamps and Julia Herlogsson battled the Tigers at No. 2, but were narrowly defeated as Towson went on to establish an early 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point.
In solo play, it was all GW, as the squad swept its DMV foe by coming out on top in all six matches. Bayraktaroglu rolled over her opponent at No. 2 (6-2, 6-0) to tie the Tigers before the Colonials were able to extend their lead with a win on court five from Decamps. GW continued to dominate and clinched the victory with Herlogsson's comeback win at No. 4.
