Women's Tennis Wraps Regular Season

WASHINGTON -- The George Washington women's tennis team wrapped its regular season with a 4-3 victory over Duquesne on Saturday afternoon at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.
In doubles play, Maria Siopacha and Melis Bayraktaroglu were just edged at the top spot, falling to the Dukes in the tiebreaker, 7-6 (3). Marie-Louise Decamps and Diana Kussainova won their match at No. 2, 6-1, but Duquesne pulled through with a win at No. 3 to secure the early doubles point.
GW then shifted its focus to singles action, where four Colonials won their matches to cement the Buff and Blue victory. In Senior Day celebratory fashion, Decamps and fellow-senior Kamilla Beisenova won their matches at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions, respectively. Siopacha and Grubac also topped the Dukes in their matches to add to the 4-3 GW win.
SENIOR SALUTE: The Colonials honored Kamilla Beisenova and Marie-Louise Decamps in a Senior Day ceremony before their matchup with the Dukes this afternoon. Both seniors have played an integral role in the Colonials' success throughout their time at GW. This season, the duo has helped the Buff and Blue to an impressive 13-8 record and 6-1 mark in Atlantic 10 action.
BROWINING'S BULLETS: "Today was a great match. Our seniors did an amazing job today. Duquesne played really well today and pushed us. They are a very good team but we managed to pull it out. I am so proud of Marie and Kamilla. They really carried us today. It was a great last home match for them. Sara battled through today and clinched it. It was a really good match for her today and a great confidence builder. Overall, we're very happy with the win and glad we could get our seniors a win in their last home match. We look forward to the A-10 Championship next week."
LOOK AHEAD: GW will now await seeding in preparation for the 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship beginning on Wednesday in Orlando, Florida.
