WASHINGTON â€" George Washington gymnastics senior co-captain Cami Drouin-Allaire has been named an American Athletic, Inc. (AAI) Award finalist.
The AAI Award, considered the Heisman Trophy in gymnastics, recognizes the most outstanding senior female gymnast in the country. Every year, college coaches are asked to submit their nominations for this award and then vote to narrow down the nominations to 10 finalists, and ultimately, the winner.
Drouin-Allaire will cap her career as one of the most decorated Colonials in program history. At the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship on Saturday, the Shoreham, New York, native, was named the EAGL Gymnast and Senior of the Year.
The co-captain was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week a program-record four times this season and competes in all four events with career-high of 9.900+ on each one. She also holds the top all-around score in EAGL (39.600), a mark she earned after breaking her career-high in the all-around for three-consecutive meets. The 39.600 also ranks second in program history. Drouin-Allaire also sits tied for 10th in the nation on vault (9.910 RQS) and has scored above a 9.900 on vault seven times in 2018.
The biology major is also the first GW gymnast to make a repeat trip to the NCAA Championships as an individual qualifier and earned EAGL First Team honors (vault, floor, all-around) each year she has competed for GW. As a freshman in 2015, she earned Second Team All-America honors on vault from the National Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches Association (NACGC/W), the first gymnast in program history to earn All-America honors.
