NEWPORT NEWS, Va. â€" The George Washington lacrosse team snagged two Atlantic 10 weekly honors on Tuesday, as senior co-captain Jocelyn Donohue was named Co-Player of the Week and freshman keeper Jenna Oler earned Rookie of the Week honors.
Donohue registered back-to-back hat tricks last week at American and against Mount St. Mary's to extend the Colonials' winning streak to four. The Amherst, New Hampshire native has started every contest this season while also tallying multiple goals in each matchup. The senior leads the squad with 21 points (20g, 1a) and boasts a .833 shots on goal percentage.
For Donohue, the award marks the first of her career.
Oler continues to dominate in the cage and made a season-high matching 17 saves between the pipes against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday, a mark that ranks tied-for-third in program history. On Wednesday at American, she also picked up a season-high eight ground balls. The Columbia, Maryland native currently ranks first in the nation and Atlantic 10 with a .606 save percentage and boasts a national rank of sixth in the country and second in the league with an 8.27 goals-against average.
The award marks Oler's second this season after being named Defensive Player of the Week on March 7, and is the first time a Colonial has earned the Rookie of the Week honor since April 20, 2015, when it was given to Brooke Sands.
