Greco, Orchard, Stancil have signed NLIs to join Colonials
WASHINGTON – GW softball head coach Shane Winkler has announced that three student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to compete for the Colonials, beginning in the 2020 season.
The group of recent signees includes Maggie Greco (Bolingbrook, Ill.), Paris Orchard (Walla Walla, Wash.) and Darbie Stancil (Temecula, Calif.).
"I'm excited to welcome Maggie, Darbie and Paris to the Colonial family," said Winkler, who is in his first season leading the Buff and Blue. "This group will bring a ton of speed and athleticism to the field, and we'll immediately be stronger in both the infield and outfield.
We have some big shoes to fill after the graduation of this year's senior class, but these three will be joining some very talented returners to help ensure our program continues to improve next year and beyond. The future of Colonial softball is very exciting."
Maggie Greco

Bolingbrook, Ill. | Downers Grove South High School
Greco has started the past three seasons as a shortstop and third baseman on the varsity squad at Downers Grove South High School. Last spring, she was named to Voyager Media All-Area First Team and West Suburban Gold All-Conference First Team after hitting .513 with 21 steals.
A two-time West Suburban Gold Conference All-Academic honoree, Greco has helped the Mustangs to three straight conference titles, plus a third-place finish in the IHSA State Tournament in 2016. She's been an All-Conference pick in basketball, as well. She's played club ball with Chicago Cheetahs Fastpitch.
Paris Orchard

Walla Walla, Wash. | College Place High School
Orchard has been named to the Mid-Columbia All-Conference First Team in each of her first three seasons at College Place High School, starring as an outfielder and pitcher. In 2018, she was named to Class 1A Honorable Mention All-State in Washington.
Orchard, who has also been an All-Conference performer in soccer, has played on the club circuit with the Washington Ladyhawks and Washington Majestics. She's a member of the National Honor Society and earned a spot on the President's List for her work in the classroom.
Darbie Stancil

A versatile piece with the ability to play all over the diamond, Stancil enters her fourth season on the varsity squad at Great Oak High School in California's tradition-rich Southwestern League.
Stancil, who plays with Athletics Mercado on the club circuit, has also shined in the classroom as a two-time academic letter recipient who ranks in the top 10 percent of her class.
