LAST TIME OUT: GW closed its nonconference schedule Tuesday with a 1-1 draw at Stony Brook. The Colonials led most of the way thanks to a 10th-minute goal from Oscar Haynes Brown before the Seawolves tied it on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute. They are 2-1-2 in their past five games with the lone loss at No. 5 North Carolina.
IN FOCUS: GW has scored exactly one goal in seven of its nine matches this season, including the past four in a row. Add in a 3-1 win over Navy and a 4-0 loss to Binghamton, and the Colonials are averaging 1.11 goals per game.
FUN FACT: GW won its first A-10 meeting with Rhode Island, 10-0, on Oct. 12, 1990. Seven different Colonials found the net in the victory. It's still the most goals they've scored against a conference opponent in program history.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND: The Rams (4-2-2) are unbeaten in their past five matches with three wins and two draws. They grabbed a 2-1 road victory at Boston College on Tuesday behind goals from Niklas Middrup and Chae Brangman.
Nils Leifhelm has shined in net, allowing seven goals in eight games. The senior keeper leads the A-10 with a .844 save percentage, and he's posted five clean sheets.
COMING UP: The Colonials renew their Revolutionary Rivalry with George Mason on Wednesday at GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus. Kickoff for the A-10 clash is set for 2 p.m.
