WASHINGTON - The countdown is officially on for George Washington men's soccer.
The Colonials opened practice for the 2017 season Wednesday morning, kicking off preparations for their Aug. 25 opener at Binghamton.
"I really enjoyed the session," head coach Craig Jones said. "I think the level that the guys have come back in gives us a chance to move forward. Now, it's just about getting a little bit of match fitness and that game sharpness as we go through preseason."
GW also has three home exhibitions next week to get ready for its sixth season under Jones. It will host James Madison (Monday, 4 p.m.), D-II Charleston (Thursday 4 p.m.) and D-III Mary Washington (Sunday, 5 p.m.) at the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
The Buff and Blue begins the regular season with three road contests before its home opener Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. against William & Mary. (View the full schedule here.)
