LOUISVILLE, Ky. - GW softball freshman Jenna Cone has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Mid-Atlantic First Team, the NFCA announced on Thursday.
Cone is the first Colonial to land First Team All-Region honors since 2013, when Autumn Taylor ('13) received the distinction. The rookie is one of 12 First Team members and represents the third base position. As a First Team member, Cone is now eligible for selection to 2017 NFCA Division I All-America teams.
Cone had a tremendous impact on the GW softball program in her maiden campaign, tallying GW's best-ever single-season marks for home runs (18), slugging percentage (.822), on-base percentage (.500), runs scored (47), RBIs (59), extra-base hits (28) and total bases (125). The Trabuco Canyon, California, native was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year while grabbing First Team All-Conference and All-Rookie nods.
A total of 667 student-athletes from 175 programs received 2017 Division I All-Region honors, with first, second and third teams for each region.
