GREENVILLE, N.C. -- GW sophomore golfer Logan Lowe shot a final round even-par 72 on Tuesday at the East Carolina Intercollegiate to finish tied for fourth, marking his third consecutive top-11 finish this spring.
Lowe, who was tied for 25th following the first 36 holes on Monday, shot up the leaderboard by virtue of being one of just two players in the 66-man field to shoot even par of better in the final round. The sophomore finished the tournament 7-over par (75-76-72=223) at the difficult Brook Valley Country Club, just one shot off three golfers who tied for first at 6-over.
A native of Gras Valley, California, Lowe has been in superior form the last three tournaments. He won the Bash at the Beach Invitational, March 13-14, by shooting even-par 213, including a final round, 2-under 69. Five days later, he kept a hot hand at the George Mason Spring Spectacular with a T-11th showing.
For the year, Lowe now has four top-10 finishes in eight tournaments, having also taken T-7th and T-2nd results in the fall. His 72.3 scoring average also leads the team.
GW finished 11th in the event as a team, with Vince Palazzolo (T-56th), Christian Cichan (T-56th), Jack Porcelli (T-60th) and Michael Heda (66th) rounding out the lineup.
The Colonials play their penultimate event of the regular season before the Atlantic 10 Championships next Monday and Tuesday at the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate hosted by Lispcomb in Nashville, Tennessee.
