TEEING OFF: The GW golf team heads to Orlando to compete for the Atlantic 10 Championship this weekend at Grand Cypress Golf Club. The 54-hole tournament features 18 holes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Tee times begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday for the Colonials who are set to be joined by Rhode Island and Fordham in the first round.
GW LINEUP: The Colonials will have an experienced lineup as four players have competed in a prior A-10 Championship, with freshman Yoo Jin Kim being the only first-time player. Last year, Christian Cichan and Logan Lowe were both in contention heading into the final round and took T-7th and 13th place finishes, respectively. Vince Palazzolo and Jack Porcelli also represented GW at last year's A-10s, and Kim is coming off a top-15 finish at the Yale Invitational two weeks ago.
THE FIELD: VCU is the three-time defending champion, including a seven-stroke victory over Richmond last year. In this spring's A-10 Match Play Championship, the Rams were defeated in the championship match by Dayton. Davidson, Fordham, George Mason, La Salle, Rhode Island, Saint Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's round out the 11-team field.
GW AT THE A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP: The Colonials are coming off a fourth-place finish at last year's A-10 Championship, which was also held at Grand Cypress Golf Club, though on a different course. The Colonials won their lone A-10 Championship in 2012 at the Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla., after shooting an 8-under 568 in the rain-shortened 36-hole event.
