COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - George Washington women's basketball head coach Jennifer Rizzotti will continue her long-standing relationship with USA Basketball for the 2017-2020 quadrennium as she will serve as the Chair of the Women's Basketball Junior National Team Committee.
Rizzotti is fresh off serving as support staff on the 2016 U.S. Olympic team that won its sixth consecutive gold medal at the Rio Summer Olympics last summer. She previously directed the 2011 USA U19 World Championship and 2010 U18 Championship teams to gold medals.
The USA Basketball Junior National Team Committees will issue invitations for trials and training camps and select coaching staffs and team members for college-aged teams for the next four years. On the docket for the upcoming quadrennium is the 2017 and 2019 FIBA U19 World Cups, the 2018 and 2020 FIBA Americas U18 Championships and the 2019 Pan American Games.
Joining Rizzotti on the committee will be 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist Kara Lawson Barling (athlete representative) and NCAA representatives Tonya Cardoza (Temple), Wes Moore (NC State) and Karen Aston (Texas).
In her first season at the helm of the Colonials, Rizzotti directed the program to the 2016-17 Atlantic 10 regular season co-championship and an appearance in the WNIT. GW finished 20-10 overall in her debut season with three players garnering Atlantic 10 All-Conference honors in Caira Washington (Second Team), Lexi Martins (First Team, All-Academic) and Hannah Schaible (All-Defensive).
