PHILADELPHIA - The George Washington women's tennis team edged Temple on the road, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at the TU Tennis Courts.
The Colonials (9-9) won a crucial doubles point before splitting the singles matches to come away with the victory.
To start the day, senior Allison Hansen and sophomore partner Victoria Kogan took a win at No. 3 doubles, and sophomore Maria Siopacha and freshman Melis Bayraktaroglu clinched a 1-0 lead for GW with a tiebreaker triumph at No. 2.
The Colonials increased their lead as Siopacha claimed a straight-set win at the top singles spot, but Temple cut the deficit at the No. 2 slot.
The Owls then evened the score at 2-2 with a three-setter in third-flight play before the Buff and Blue regained the edge with junior Marie-Louise Decamps' come-from-behind three-set triumph at No. 4.
Senior Taylor Nederlander secured the victory with a three-set win of her own in fifth-flight play.
Temple took the final match at the bottom of the ladder to put the score at 4-3 in favor of GW.
The Colonials return to action on Sunday with the squad's final regular-season road match at Atlantic 10 foe Saint Joseph's.
