Gymnastics Rolls to Quad-Meet Win on Sunday

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - A trio of George Washington gymnasts swept the all-around podium for the second week in a row as the 16th-ranked Colonials improved to 22-4 overall with a quad-meet win over West Virginia, Eastern Michigan and Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon at the WVU Coliseum.
GW scored 196.375 to top Eastern Michigan (196.225), the host Mountaineers (195.80) and Pittsburgh (194.20).
The Colonials were buoyed by event scores of 49.05 on vault, 49.05 on uneven bars, 49.175 on balance beam and 49.10 on floor exercise.
Junior Jillian Winstanley, junior Cami Drouin-Allaire and senior Alex DeMoura finished one-two-three in the all-around for the second straight week to lead the Colonials. Additionally, GW gymnasts combined for four podium appearances on the afternoon.
Winstanley took the all-around title for the second week in a row. The reigning EAGL Gymnast of the Week scored 39.425, which included a 9.875 and first-place tie on vault with Drouin-Allaire. She also placed second on the uneven bars with a 9.875 in addition to 9.85 on balance beam (T-4th) and 9.825 on floor (T-5th).
Drouin-Allaire tied for the event title on vault with a 9.875. She also scored 9.825 on bars (T-6th), 9.80 on beam (T-14th) and 9.825 on floor en route to her 39.9325 in the all-around.
DeMoura's total of 38.925 was thanks to a 9.80 on vault (T-9th), 9.525 on bars, 9.80 on beam (T-14th) and 9.80 on floor (T-11th).
On balance beam, junior Sara Mermelstein and junior Liz Pfeiler tied with Winstanley for fourth place with a 9.85. Mermelstein also competed vault (9.70, T-18th) and floor (9.775, 17th) while Pfeiler was also in action on bars (9.70, T-15th).
Four Colonials scored an identical 9.825 on floor exercise as Winstanley, Drouin-Allaire, senior Chelsea Raineri and junior Madeline Seibold all tied for fifth place.
GW will conclude its regular season by hosting Stanford, NC State and Yale on Sunday at the Smith Center for Senior Day.
