LEADING OFF: The No. 16 George Washington gymnastics team will compete in its penultimate regular-season meet of the season when it visits West Virginia for a quad meet on Sunday at 2 p.m. Joining the Colonials and host Mountaineers at the event will be Pittsburgh and No. 23 Eastern Michigan.
DOWN THE STRETCH: There are just two meets remaining before GW heads back down to Raleigh, North Carolina, for the 2017 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship, March 18, at the Reynolds Coliseum.
LIKELY LOCKED: The Colonials are "likely locked" for NCAA Regionals according to RoadToNationals.com. The website defines likely-locked teams as "Likely not to miss regionals, even if all other teams got their current high score on all remaining meets."
It would mark the Colonials' third consecutive trip to NCAA Regionals and the 13th time in program history the full squad advances to the postseason.
TOP 20: GW ranks in the national top-20 for all four events entering this weekend's meet while leading the EAGL on each apparatus.
The Colonials rank 18th overall on vault (49.040 RQS), 17th on uneven bars (49.030 RQS), 13th on balance beam (49.155 RQS) and 20th on floor exercise (49.070 RQS).
VALUABLE VAULTERS: GW boats the top two vault performers in the EAGL in junior Cami Drouin-Allaire and senior Chelsea Raineri.
Drouin-Allaire has scored 9.90 in each of the past two competitions, three times this season and 13 times in her career. Her 9.880 RQS and average score of 9.866 are both best in the EAGL.
Raineri ranks second in the conference with a 9.850 RQS while averaging a 9.803 per vault.
WINSTANLEY HONORED: Junior Jillian Winstanley was named the EAGL Gymnast of the Week on Tuesday after one of the finest outings of her career last weekend.
She set a career-high in a first-place finish in the all-around (39.55), hit 9.90 or better on both vault (9.925, 1st) and balance beam (9.90, 3rd) in addition to tying for the event title on uneven bars (9.875) and a 9.85 on floor exercise (T-4th).
LOOK AHEAD: GW will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday, March 12, in a quad meet against Stanford, NC State and Yale.
