Gymnastics Lands Eight on All-EAGL Teams

WASHINGTON - A total of eight George Washington gymnasts were selected to the 2017 All-East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Teams, the league office announced on Monday.
The eight selections matches last year's squad for the most in a single season for George Washington since joining the conference in 2005.
The junior duo of Jillian Winstanley and Cami Drouin-Allaire each earned a team-high five selections apiece with Winstanley earning four First Team nods (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, all-around). She was also named to the Second Team on floor exercise.
Drouin-Allaire picked up a trio of First Team honors (vault, floor exercise, all-around) and two Second Team nods (bars, beam).
Senior Alex DeMoura was named to the First Team for the all-around, along with a trio of Second Team honors on bars, beam and floor exercise.
Senior Chelsea Raineri rounds out her decorated career with her fourth consecutive First Team All-EAGL vault selection in addition to her first career First Team nod on uneven bars. She was also named to the Second Team on floor exercise.
The junior duo of Sara Mermelstein and Liz Pfeiler joined Winstanley on the All-EAGL First Team for balance beam. It marks Pfeiler's third consecutive year as a First Team beam performer while Mermelstein earns the honor for the first time.
Junior Alex Zois picked up a pair of Second Team honors for both bars and beam while junior Madeline Seibold rounded out the Colonials' honorees with a Second Team selection for floor exercise.
First Team All-EAGL on each event and the all-around includes the top eight ranked gymnasts (including ties) from the 10-week regular season based on regional-qualifying score (RQS). Second Team All-EAGL includes gymnasts ranked Nos. 9-16.
Major EAGL award winners will be announced at this weekend's EAGL Championship in Raleigh, North Carolina.
