WASHINGTON - Fourteen George Washington gymnasts have been named to the 2017 All-East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Scholastic Team, the most honorees in a single season since the Colonials joined the EAGL in 2005.
A total of 82 student-athletes from the six EAGL schools were honored, with the Colonials' 14 honorees tying for the second most in the league. Pittsburgh led the way with 18 honorees while GW tied with Towson with 14. New Hampshire and NC State each had 13 selections while North Carolina saw 10 gymnasts recognized.
In order to be honored as an All-EAGL Scholastic Team member, a gymnast must have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or above. Freshmen are eligible with Fall 2016 semester grades only.
Seniors Kaila Solomon and Kaitlin Cowles each earned their fourth-career recognition to lead the Colonials while juniors Cami Drouin-Allaire, Sara Mermelstein, Liz Pfeiler and Jillian Winstanley were honored for the third-consecutive year.
Juniors Alex Zois and Madeline Seibold each picked up their second-career honors and were joined by first-time honorees in junior Brooke Bray, sophomores Yurina Harada and Julia McLaughlin and the freshmen trio of Ryan Finkelstein, Jenna Horner and Nicole Rogalski.
GW concludes its regular season by hosting the annual Senior Day Meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Charles E. Smith Center. The 2017 EAGL Championship takes place next Saturday, March 18, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
