OPENING DRAW: The George Washington lacrosse team continues its five-game home stand on Wednesday when it faces Navy at 3 p.m. at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
LAST TIME OUT: GW (0-4) received four goals from Jocelyn Donohue but UMBC proved to have too much offensive firepower to overcome as the Colonials were handed a 17-8 defeat Saturday afternoon. In addition to Donohue, Cassidy Shollenberger also had a multi-goal game with two while Bailey Forcier and Brooke Sands had one apiece.
TOPS ON TEAM: Donohue leads the Colonials in the scoring column with 11 goals and two assists. The junior attacker has three hat tricks so far this season. Senior Michaela Lynch ranks second on the team with five goals and five assists, while classmate Bailey Forcier ranks third with four goals and three assists. Forcier also has a team-high 15 draw controls.
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Junior keeper Adele Wise boasts a .406 save percentage after representing the Colonials in the crease for all four games this season. Wise made 11 stops vs. UMBC on Saturday and averages 9.75 saves per game.
SCOUTING NAVY: Navy (3-1) opened up with a 15-2 first-half lead en route to a decisive 20-4 victory over Liberty on Saturday. The Mids generated their fourth-straight 10-plus goal game in 2017 by recording a season-best 16 caused turnovers. Junior Blake Smith and sophomore Marie Valenti both tallied a game-high three caused turnovers.
SERIES HISTORY: GW and Navy will meet for just the fifth time, with the Mids taking all four previous matchups, all since 2013.
LOOK AHEAD: The Colonials continue their five-game home stint on Saturday, March 11 when they host Robert Morris at 1:00 p.m.
