Women's Tennis Defeats Saint Louis

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis squad defeated Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.
The Colonials (6-4) overpowered Saint Louis in singles play to win their fifth competition in the last six matches.
The pair of junior Marie-Louise Decamps and senior Taylor Nederlander began the day with a win, but Saint Louis took the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles matches to claim the early point.
The Colonials quickly tied the match as reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Melis Bayraktaroglu dispatched her third-flight opponent in straight sets.
The Billikens regained the edge after taking the No. 2 bout, but the Buff and Blue took the lead for good when sophomore Maria Siopacha claimed the top-flight match in straight sets.
Sophomore Sara Grubac put GW within one of clinching the match with her straight-set triumph at No. 4, and junior Kamilla Beisenova solidified the win at No. 6 in three sets.
Senior Taylor Nederlander closed the day with a hard-fought two-set victory in fifth-flight play to give the Colonials a 5-2 win.
GW takes to the road for the month of March, visiting Liberty on March 4 before heading to Florida for a trio of spring break matches.
