WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team fell at Georgetown on Friday, 4-2, at the Hoyas' Yates Field House.
The Colonials (5-4) dropped the doubles point then fought hard in singles play, but were outmatched by Georgetown (5-1).
Playing as the top tandem, junior Marie-Louise Decamps and senior Taylor Nederlander downed their Georgetown foes, but the Hoyas took the Nos. 2-3 matches to take a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Georgetown increased its lead with wins at Nos. 4 and 2.
Sophomore Sara Grubac kept the Colonials alive with her straight-set triumph at No. 3. Classmate Maria Siopacha then put GW within one with her own straight-set win in the No. 1 position.
GW's comeback attempt fell short as Georgetown clinched the match after taking the No. 5 bout to come away with a 4-2 win.
The Colonials return to their home indoor courts at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center on Saturday to host Atlantic 10 foe Saint Louis at 2 p.m.
