Women's Tennis Outlasts Towson

WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team outlasted visiting Towson, 4-3, at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center on Friday afternoon.
The Colonials (3-3) grabbed the crucial doubles point before taking three singles matches to come away with an Atlantic Region victory.
The pair of sophomore Victoria Kogan and senior Allison Hansen took the first win of the day at No. 3 doubles, 6-3, before senior Taylor Nederlander and junior Marie-Louise Decamps clinched a 1-0 GW lead at No. 2, 6-4.
Towson evened the score with a win in second-flight singles and took the lead after taking the No. 6 match. Junior Kamilla Beisenova leveled it once again at 2-2 with her straight-set No. 5 victory.
Sophomore Maria Siopacha regained the lead for the Colonials, battling for a straight-set triumph at the top spot. Towson answered with a win at No. 4 to make the third-flight bout the deciding match.
Freshman Melis Bayraktaroglu clinched the victory for GW after wining a pair of tiebreakers to defeat her Towson foe.
The Colonials continue a busy weekend of play on Saturday as Morgan State visits the Southeast Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
