Women's Tennis Closes Weekend with Win over Navy

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The George Washington women's tennis team closed a busy weekend of play with a victory at Navy, 5-2, on Sunday morning at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
The Colonials (2-3) clinched the early doubles point and took four singles matches to solidify the win at Navy (5-6) in an ITA Atlantic Region matchup.
The Buff and Blue swept doubles play, beginning with a 6-1 triumph at the No. 3 position by senior Allison Hansen sophomore Sara Grubac. Senior Taylor Nederlander and junior Marie-Louise Decamps clinched the early point with a dominant, 6-0, win at the No. 2 slot before sophomore Maria Siopacha and freshman Melis Bayraktaroglu completed the sweep with a 6-2 win at the top slot.
Navy knotted the score at 1-1 with a singles win at No. 4, but the Colonials regained the edge with Siopacha's straight-set victory at the top spot. The Midshipmen again tied the match after taking the fifth-flight bout.
GW came within one of clinching the match as Decamps took a straight-set triumph in the No. 2 position.
The Buff and Blue took the victory as junior Kamilla Beisenova came back from a first-set deficit to down her No. 6 opponent.
Bayraktaroglu closed the day with a three-set win at No. 3.
The Colonials return to action on Friday to host Towson before Morgan State visits the Southeast Tennis Center on Saturday to wrap a stretch of four home matches in five contests.
