KANSAS CITY, Mo. - George Washington men's soccer has earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the fifth year in a row.
The organization recognized a total of 282 men's teams across all NCAA divisions Thursday with composite grade point averages of 3.0 or higher for the 2016-17 academic year.
With a combined GPA of 3.27, the Colonials were among nine Atlantic 10 schools recognized. It was the program's sixth all-time selection for the award.
Eighteen Colonials posted a 3.0 or higher grade point average last fall, including eight who made the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for being 3.5 or higher. There were 21 team members at 3.0 or higher last spring with nine on the conference honor roll.
Sam Summerlin and Thor Arne Höfs both made the A-10 All-Academic Team with Summerlin also earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. In addition, Alastair Berry posted perfect 4.0 GPA in both semesters.
