NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Thor Arne Höfs of George Washington men's soccer was named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Höfs helped GW secure a pair of shutout wins at GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus last week. The junior goalkeeper made six saves in Wednesday's 2-0 victory over Davidson. On Saturday, he made seven saves, including five in the opening half, as the Colonials blanked Duquesne, 1-0, in their regular-season home finale.
Höfs has posted six shutouts in all this season, including five straight at home. He wrapped the regular season at GW Soccer Field without allowing a goal in 361 minutes against A-10 competition. He now has 17 clean sheets in his Colonials career, putting him within three of Jeff Brown's program record.
This is the third A-10 weekly honor of Höfs' career. He was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week twice last season, most recently on Nov. 7, 2016.
