WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's soccer squad continues non-conference play on Tuesday with a road trip to Longwood for a 6 p.m. contest.
The Colonials (2-2-3) continue a stretch of four consecutive road matches after shutting out No. 12 Wake Forest in a 0-0 (2T) draw a week ago before falling at UMBC, 2-1, on Saturday.
Sophomore Dylan Lightbourn leads the Colonials with two goals on the year - both gamewinners and the first scores of his career. His two gamewinners lead the Atlantic 10 and rank 18th in the nation. Senior Garrett Heine leads GW with 16 shots and owns an efficient .500 shot on goal percentage.
Sophomore Thor Arne Höfs has posted a strong season between the pipes for the Buff and Blue, leading the conference and ranking 28th in the nation with a 0.829 save percentage. With just under 700 minutes logged in 2016, Höfs has already surpassed his playing time as a rookie and his 29 saves on the year matches his total stops from 2015.
Longwood (3-2-1) hosts GW after winning two of its last three contests, most recently defeating Appalachian State, 2-0, at home.
Longwood has outscored opponents, 10-4, in 2016, averaging 1.67 goals per game. The Lancers have received goals from eight different players this season.
GW leads the all-time series with Longwood, 5-3-0, and has defeated the Lancers in each of the last two seasons, including a 2-0 triumph a year ago with goals from juniors Oliver Curry and Christian Lawal,
Tuesday's match is slated for 6 p.m. at the Lancers' Athletic Complex.
